Ingredients
For the Meatballs:
- 1 ½ lbs ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
- ½ cup breadcrumbs (or crushed crackers)
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for browning, optional)
For the Gravy:
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (for thickening)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Prepare the Meatballs
- In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Gently roll into 1-inch meatballs.
2. Brown the Meatballs (Optional, But Recommended)
- Heat a skillet with 1 tbsp olive oil over medium heat.
- Brown the meatballs for 1-2 minutes per side (they don’t need to be fully cooked).
3. Make the Gravy
- In a bowl, whisk together beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and ketchup.
- Stir in chopped onions and mushrooms.
4. Slow Cook the Meatballs
- Place the meatballs in the slow cooker.
- Pour the gravy mixture over them.
- Cover and cook on:
- LOW for 4-5 hours
- HIGH for 2-3 hours
5. Thicken the Gravy
- In the last 30 minutes, stir in the cornstarch slurry to thicken the gravy.
6. Serve and Enjoy!
- Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
