Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients:
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 5 cups mini marshmallows (or 1 package of large marshmallows)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- Gel food coloring (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple)
Optional Add-ons:
- Sprinkles
- White or dark chocolate drizzle
- Fruity Pebbles cereal for extra flavor
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients
- Grease a 9×9-inch pan with butter or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- Separate the marshmallows into six portions (one for each color layer).
Step 2: Melt the Marshmallows
- In a large saucepan, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over low heat.
- Add 1 cup of marshmallows and stir continuously until smooth.
- Remove from heat and mix in a few drops of red food coloring.
Step 3: Mix and Layer
- Stir in 1 cup of Rice Krispies cereal until evenly coated.
- Press the mixture gently into the prepared pan, forming an even red layer.
- Repeat this process with each color (orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple), layering them one on top of the other.
Step 4: Let It Set and Serve
- Allow the treats to cool and set for about 30 minutes.
- Once firm, cut them into squares and enjoy!
Notes
- Use gel food coloring instead of liquid to keep colors vibrant without making the mixture runny.
- Grease your hands and spatula with butter to prevent sticking while pressing the layers.
- Do not overheat the marshmallows—melt them on low heat to keep the treats soft and chewy.
- Let each layer cool slightly before adding the next to prevent color blending.
