Description

Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf combines the classic flavors of a Philly cheesesteak sandwich with the hearty appeal of meatloaf. Packed with ground beef, melted cheese, sautéed onions, and bell peppers, this dish is a delicious comfort food favorite. Perfect for weeknight meals or gatherings, it’s simple to make and sure to impress!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Meatloaf:

1 ½ lbs ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)

1 cup breadcrumbs (or almond flour for low-carb)

2 large eggs

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

1 cup diced onions

1 cup diced bell peppers (green or red)

1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese

For the Topping:

68 slices of provolone or American cheese

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a loaf pan or baking dish.

Sauté Vegetables: In a skillet, heat a tablespoon of oil and sauté the diced onions and bell peppers until softened. Allow them to cool slightly.

Prepare the Meatloaf Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently.

Incorporate Vegetables and Cheese: Fold the cooled sautéed vegetables and shredded cheese into the meat mixture.

Shape and Bake: Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in the prepared pan. Bake for 45–55 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).

Add Cheese Topping: In the last 10 minutes of baking, layer slices of cheese on top of the meatloaf. Let it melt into a gooey crust.

Rest and Serve: Remove from the oven and let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with your favorite sides.

Notes

For a low-carb version, replace breadcrumbs with crushed pork rinds or almond flour.

Add a touch of milk or beef broth to the mixture if it seems dry.

Customize with mushrooms, hot peppers, or spinach for extra flavor.
