- 1 loaf of day-old bread, cubed
- 1 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup celery, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup chicken or vegetable broth
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 tsp poultry seasoning
- 1/2 tsp dried sage
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking sheet.
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Sauté onions and celery until softened, about 5 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine bread cubes, sautéed vegetables, poultry seasoning, sage, salt, and pepper.
- Add beaten eggs and broth to the mixture, stirring gently until combined. Mixture should be moist but not soggy.
- Shape the mixture into golf ball-sized balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve warm.
Notes
- For a crispier texture, flip the balls halfway through baking.
- Feel free to add cooked sausage or diced apples for variation.
