Instructions
1. Prepare the Beef:
- Season beef with salt and black pepper.
- In a large skillet, melt 1 tbsp butter over medium-high heat.
- Sear beef on all sides until browned (about 4-5 minutes). Remove from pan and set aside.
2. Caramelize the Onions:
- In the same skillet, melt remaining butter.

3. Make the Sauce:
- Pour in beef broth and deglaze the pan by scraping up any browned bits.
- Return seared beef to the skillet.
- Simmer for 20 minutes until the beef is tender and the sauce thickens.
4. Cook the Noodles:
- While the sauce simmers, cook egg noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
5. Combine Everything:
- Stir cooked noodles into the beef and onion mixture.
- Sprinkle shredded Gruyère or Parmesan cheese on top and let it melt.
6. Serve & Enjoy!
- Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
- Serve hot with garlic bread or a fresh salad.
Notes
Caramelize onions properly – Cook them low and slow for deep flavor.
Choose the right beef – Chuck roast is the best for tenderness.
Don’t overcook noodles – Cook them separately and mix in just before serving.
Enhance the umami – Add Worcestershire sauce and a splash of red wine.
Make it creamy – Stir in a little heavy cream before serving.
