Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef (or turkey)
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 head iceberg or romaine lettuce, chopped
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced red onion
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • 1/2 cup sweet corn (optional)
  • 2 cups Doritos (Nacho Cheese, Cool Ranch, or your favorite flavor), crushed
  • 1 cup Catalina or ranch dressing

Optional Toppings:

  • Sour cream
  • Guacamole
  • Pickled jalapeños
  • Fresh cilantro

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Taco Meat

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  3. Drain excess grease, then add taco seasoning and 1/4 cup water. Stir well and simmer for 5 minutes.

Step 2: Assemble the Salad

  1. In a large salad bowl, add chopped lettuce as the base.
  2. Layer on diced tomatoes, onions, black olives, and sweet corn.
  3. Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the salad.
  4. Lightly crush Doritos and add them on top.

Step 3: Add Dressing and Serve

  1. Drizzle with your choice of Catalina or ranch dressing.
  2. Toss everything together just before serving to maintain the crunch.
  3. Garnish with cilantro, jalapeños, or sour cream if desired.

Notes

Keep it crunchy – Add Doritos and dressing right before serving.
Customize it – Swap meat for beans or use grilled chicken.
Make it healthier – Use baked tortilla chips and light dressing.
Meal prep friendly – Store all ingredients separately and mix when ready to serve.
