Description
These baked banana donuts are a healthier alternative to fried donuts — soft, moist, and naturally sweetened with ripe bananas. Perfect for breakfast, snacks, or dessert. Try them with chocolate glaze or cinnamon sugar!
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (or honey for a healthier option)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted) or coconut oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour)
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
Optional Toppings:
- Chocolate glaze
- Cinnamon sugar coating
- Peanut butter drizzle
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
- Prepare wet ingredients: In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth. Stir in the sugar, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
- Combine: Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Don’t overmix!
- Fill the pan: Spoon the batter into the donut pan, filling each cavity about 3/4 full.
- Bake: Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the donuts are golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool: Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack.
- Add toppings: Dip in glaze, roll in cinnamon sugar, or drizzle with peanut butter. Enjoy!
Notes
- Use overripe bananas: The more spots, the sweeter and more flavorful your donuts will be.
- Avoid overmixing: This keeps the donuts light and fluffy.
- Grease your pan well: Donuts release more easily and keep their perfect shape.
- Experiment with add-ins: Chocolate chips, walnuts, or shredded coconut can add great texture and flavor.
