Description

These baked banana donuts are a healthier alternative to fried donuts — soft, moist, and naturally sweetened with ripe bananas. Perfect for breakfast, snacks, or dessert. Try them with chocolate glaze or cinnamon sugar!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (or honey for a healthier option)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted) or coconut oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour)
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt

Optional Toppings:

  • Chocolate glaze
  • Cinnamon sugar coating
  • Peanut butter drizzle

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
  2. Prepare wet ingredients: In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth. Stir in the sugar, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Mix dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Combine: Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Don’t overmix!
  5. Fill the pan: Spoon the batter into the donut pan, filling each cavity about 3/4 full.
  6. Bake: Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the donuts are golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool: Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack.
  8. Add toppings: Dip in glaze, roll in cinnamon sugar, or drizzle with peanut butter. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Use overripe bananas: The more spots, the sweeter and more flavorful your donuts will be.
  • Avoid overmixing: This keeps the donuts light and fluffy.
  • Grease your pan well: Donuts release more easily and keep their perfect shape.
  • Experiment with add-ins: Chocolate chips, walnuts, or shredded coconut can add great texture and flavor.
