Description

These baked ham and cheese croissants are an easy, delicious way to elevate your breakfast or brunch. Made with flaky croissants, savory ham, and gooey melted cheese, they bake to golden perfection in just minutes. Whether you’re meal-prepping, feeding a crowd, or simply indulging in a warm, cheesy treat, this recipe is quick, customizable, and guaranteed to satisfy!

Ingredients

Scale

Essential Ingredients:

  • 4 large croissants (day-old works best)
  • 8 slices ham (smoked, honey-glazed, or deli-style)
  • 4 slices Swiss, cheddar, or Gruyère cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted (for brushing)
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Optional Ingredients for Extra Flavor:

  • 1 tsp honey or maple syrup (for sweetness)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder or onion powder (for a deeper savory taste)
  • ½ tsp fresh thyme or parsley (for garnish)
  • 1 tsp hot sauce or jalapeños (if you like heat)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat and Prepare

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Slice each croissant in half horizontally but not all the way through.

Step 2: Assemble the Croissants

  • Spread Dijon mustard on the inside of each croissant (if using).
  • Layer 2 slices of ham inside each croissant.
  • Add cheese slices on top of the ham for even melting.

Step 3: Brush and Bake

  • Brush the croissant tops with melted butter for crispiness.
  • Apply egg wash on the surface for a golden finish.
  • Place croissants on the baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown and cheese is fully melted.

Step 4: Serve and Enjoy

  • Remove from oven and let cool slightly.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
  • Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce or side dish.

Notes

Use day-old croissants to prevent sogginess and get a crispier texture.
Choose the right cheese—Gruyère, Swiss, or cheddar melt beautifully.
Cover with foil while baking for the first half to ensure even cheese melting.
Add an extra layer of flavor with a drizzle of honey, mustard, or a sprinkle of garlic powder.
Pair with a fresh salad, fruit, or soup for a complete meal.
